Employment Opportunities at National Capital Parks - East

We’re excited to share several seasonal openings at National Capital Parks - East (NACE) this month and ask that you please share these job announcements with your networks. NACE manages 17 major parks covering more than 8,000 acres in Washington, DC, and Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and Charles Counties in Maryland.

Application windows are short and will close when 100 applications are received. Please share these opportunities with your network. 


1) Seasonal Automotive Worker (WG‑8) — Greenbelt, MD

Open period: February 5–19, 2026, or until 100 applications are received



Key duties:

  • Maintain, repair, and overhaul gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair major systems (engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel/emission controls, computer‑related electrical, braking).

  • Run operational checks to diagnose issues and perform targeted repairs.

  • Establish and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program.


2) Seasonal Administrative Support Assistant (GS‑5) — Washington, DC

Open period: February 5–19, 2026, or until 100 applications are received



Key duties:

  • Research and assemble reports and documents.

  • Manage records and tracking systems for park or program activities.

  • Process routine financial transactions; monitor accounts; generate standard reports.

  • Prepare and process payroll; validate time and attendance.

  • Use automated systems to produce clear documents, reports, and tables.


3) Seasonal Gardener (WG‑6) — Three vacancies — Washington, DC

Open period: February 4–18, 2026, or until 100 applications are received



Key duties:

  • Work at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens to prepare soil beds, turf, flower gardens, hedges, walkways, garden fixtures, and planting areas.

  • Conduct soil tests; correct deficiencies with appropriate amendments.

  • Recommend plants for shade, boundaries, ground cover, erosion control, or appearance; slope/plant terraces; sod steep banks.

  • Prune shrubs/trees to reduce risk, maintain health, and meet operational needs; calculate seed rates.

  • Assess cultural landscape features; diagnose insect/disease/cultural pressures; recommend/apply control measures consistent with regulations.


4) Seasonal Motor Vehicle Operator (WG‑7) — Two vacancies — Suitland, MD & Greenbelt, MD

Open period: February 5–18, 2026, or until 100 applications are received



Key duties:

  • Operate platform, van, stake, and dump trucks; specialty pumping and trash vehicles.

  • Drive on public roads at highway speeds and over rough terrain in urban and rural settings; tow equipment.

  • Maneuver in close quarters and heavy traffic on long and short hauls.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (fluids, tire pressure).

  • Conduct semi‑skilled maintenance, repair, and janitorial work in and on park facilities.
