The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (Commission) will host the 2026 District of Columbia Energy Action Summit. This year’s theme, “Turning Knowledge into Solutions for Affordable Energy,” is critical as the District navigates through the increasing costs of safe and reliable energy.
This year’s summit will be a two-day event, May 27, 2026, and May 29, 2026. Day 1 will take place at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library and feature robust panel discussions around energy affordability. Day 2, an outreach and resource event, will take place at Sycamore & Oak event center.
“The Commission is eager to engage with stakeholders and ratepayers at this year’s Energy Action Summit, where we will continue driving solutions that support the District’s clean energy future for residents and businesses,” said Commission Chairman Emile Thompson. “As we advance transformative policies and work toward achieving energy affordability and sustainability, the District is making progress. This summit is not just a discussion, but a real call to collective action.”
Some of the confirmed moderators and panelists include Department of Housing and Community Development Director Colleen Green; Advanced Energy Group CEO H.G. Chissell; Electrify DC Co-Founder and Director Vanessa Bertelli; DC Water Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Vice President Kirsten Williams; Office of People’s Counsel Director of Litigation Laurence Daniels; DC Green Bank CEO Brandi Colander; and Preservation of Affordable Housing Vice President Maia Shanklin Roberts. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser will also provide remarks around energy affordability in the District.
Panel discussions include:
Balancing Affordability and Sustainability: A Collaborative Approach to Housing in DC
Power, Preservation & People: Balancing Affordability and Access in DC
What is the Role of the Utility Companies in Energy Affordability?
The Energy Action Summit outreach event on May 29 will have representatives on-site from the DC Department of Housing and Community Development, DC Water, DC Green Bank, the DC Department of Energy & Environment’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Washington Gas, Office of the People’s Counsel, the DC Metropolitan Police Department’s Office of Victim Services, and many more. Day 2 will also kick off the Commission’s annual Summer Ready DC outreach campaign. Energy efficiency items will be available to attendees while supplies last. These tools may help reduce electricity bills this summer. Throughout the spring and summer, District residents can pick up energy efficiency items at various locations throughout the city. Summit registration is free and open to the public. For more information on the summit and to register to attend, please visit www.dcpsc.org/eas.
