Dear Residents/ANCs/Businesses,
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting repair work in your
neighborhood soon. The repairs will include sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and/or wheelchair ramps at Queen St NE from Holbrook St to 16th St. The work is scheduled to start on or about Thursday, May 28, 2026, and complete by Thursday, June 18, 2026, weather permitting.
The contractor is authorized to work Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Curbside parking may be restricted during the repair work. Emergency no parking signs will
be posted at least 72 hours in advance. You may need to move your vehicle. Please be sure to review the signs as they provide details of when and where parking is restricted. They also provide contact information of the project manager.
Traffic control devices will be in place to warn people approaching the work zone. You are advised to stay alert while traveling near the work location and be prepared for possible detours.
Cyclists should be prepared to adjust their route accordingly. Metro buses will be able to continue their routes.
Please do not salt the new sidewalk for one year to allow it to cure properly. This will increase its longevity, as salt can damage fresh concrete. Instead, you can make the sidewalk reasonably safe by covering any unremoved snow or ice with a coating of non-corrosive material such as sand or sawdust.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the repair work. Should you have any
questions or concerns, please contact the project manager at the information below.
Sincerely,
Victor Nwabueze
Project Engineer
